Breeding Salers & Angus Cattle for the Commercial Cattleman

In 2003 we decided to start a herd of Optimizers by using purebred Angus females breeding them to purebred and fullblood Salers bulls . We purchased a group of bred females from Jim Boyles Angus in Nebraska and another group of 50 open Angus Heifers from the Mullendore herd in Montana. After the first year we started AI'ing the Angus females to balanced EPD performing carcass and tenderness Angus sires. Mainly Foresight, Destroyer, First Edition, and Objective. This has given us a nice group of heifers to continue the Angus breeding program. We clean up the Angus cows with Salers bulls to get the Optimizers.
